La tabla t de Student con los valores críticos tα,ν, la función de densidad f(t,ν) y la distribución acumulada P(T ≤ t) para cualquier grado de libertad. Haz clic en una celda para leer el valor.

Cómo leer la tabla: cada columna es un nivel de significación α y cada fila un grado de libertad ν. El mismo valor crítico t sirve para dos casos según el tipo de test:
  • Test de una cola (unilateral): deja un área α a la derecha, P(T > t) = α. Usa la fila «1 cola».
  • Test de dos colas (bilateral): deja un área α repartida entre ambas colas, P(|T| > t) = α. Usa la fila «2 colas».
Como las dos colas reparten el área, siempre α (2 colas) = 2 × α (1 cola). Ejemplo: con ν = 10, para un test bilateral al 5 % (columna «2 colas: 0.05» ↔ «1 cola: 0.025») el valor crítico es t = 2.228.

Distribución t de Student

La distribución t de Student con ν grados de libertad tiene función de densidad:

Conforme ν → ∞ la distribución converge a la Normal estándar N(0,1).

Tabla de valores críticos

Muestra los cuantiles tα,ν tales que P(T > tα,ν) = α (contraste unilateral). Para contraste bilateral al nivel α₂, usa la columna α₁ = α₂/2.

  • Ejemplo: contraste bilateral α = 0.05, ν = 20 → columna α₁ = 0.025 → t = 2.086.
  • Cuando ν = ∞ los valores coinciden con los cuantiles de la Normal estándar.

Tabla de distribución acumulada

Cada celda muestra P(T ≤ t) para el número de grados de libertad seleccionado. Para calcular p-valores bilaterales: p = 2 · P(T > |tobs|) = 2 · (1 − P(T ≤ |tobs|)).

Preguntas frecuentes

  • ¿Cómo se lee la tabla t de Student? Elige la fila del grado de libertad ν y la columna del nivel de significación α: la celda es el valor crítico t. Usa la fila «1 cola» para tests unilaterales y la de «2 colas» para bilaterales.
  • ¿Cuándo se usa la tabla t en lugar de la tabla normal? Con muestras pequeñas y varianza poblacional desconocida se usa la tabla t de Student; al crecer los grados de libertad, la t se aproxima a la tabla normal estándar.
  • ¿Qué diferencia hay entre una cola y dos colas? Una cola deja toda el área α a un lado (P(T > t) = α); dos colas la reparten entre ambos extremos (P(|T| > t) = α), por lo que el valor crítico es mayor.
